inteliLIGHT® street lighting control solution and smart city integrations, showcased in Paris in October

Smart and connected lighting applications from 16 worldwide companies will be presented by Future Electronics during the Elyseum Lighting Day event right in the center of Paris, close to the Champs Elysées, on October 4-th, 2017.

Brasov, ROMANIA, 02 March 2017

The Canadian based Future Electronics, a worldwide leading distributor for electronic components, is planning to bring Smart City concepts closer to the French lighting businesses and municipalities. Companies like OSRAM, NXP, Ledil and Flashnet will showcase their smart lighting vision and applications right in the center of Paris in October.

Flashnet will provide a live demo for inteliLIGHT®, its already proven streetlight control solution, combined with detailed presentations of its approach: smart city synergies through interoperability and integration. Started as a PLC (powerline communication) based control system a few years ago, inteliLIGHT has evolved to be compatible today with several modern RF communication technologies for IoT, like LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, Sigfox or LTE.

inteliLIGHT® is a smart streetlight control system that transforms any legacy lighting installation into a modern and proactive infrastructure. The city management gains awareness and control over the entire street lighting grid, together with improved scheduling and maintenance applications.

Flashnet’s vision is to provide a reliable street lighting control system that uses any communication available locally, allowing more options for the municipalities and lighting service providers. Some of these technologies are operator-based (NB-IoT for example, a carrier-grade technology favored by most major telecom companies), some can also be installed independently (LoRaWAN). Since the lighting control has become a standard for many cities in Europe, the challenges have shifted from finding a reliable solution towards finding the right solution for a particular city and the way it integrates with other city systems.

In this context, inteliLIGHT is aiming to allow more freedom than most providers, both for municipalities and service providers. Street lighting can be controlled using any communication technology available locally, or even combining several technologies if needed. This shortens the implementation time and reduces the infrastructure costs to minimum, whether it’s about existing lighting fixture upgrade or installing new fixtures. Furthermore, the system can manage in one interface different segments of controllers, even from different hardware providers.

But smart cities are not limited to smart lighting, and Flashnet seems to have a solution for that also. inteliLIGHT is already integrated with major city management systems, like Cisco CDP, allowing integrated city systems control and making a step further towards true synergistic and smart cities. Getting down to details, all controllers are available in three different form factors: as a wired upgrade for existing lighting installations, as a 7-pin NEMA connectable device (ANSI C136.41) or compact form, to be embedded into luminaries right from the production line.

“We are honored that Future Electronics chose to highlight inteliLIGHT® during Elyseum Lighting Day 2017, and we hope to meet in Paris enthusiastic French companies and stakeholders that wish to create true smart cities. France has an extensive coverage for IoT communications, being it a step ahead of many countries around the world, and inteliLIGHT is ready to use existing infrastructure to offer a reliable control system with an incredibly fast implementation.” stated Mr. Lorand Mozes, CEO of Flashnet.
