Flashnet joins Lighting Council New Zealand to support the transition to smart, connected and sustainable street lighting

Recently, Flashnet has become an associate member of Lighting Council New Zealand (LCNZ), the peak body representing the country's lighting industry on standards, compliance and environmental policy.

With around thirty member companies spanning commercial, industrial, municipal and residential lighting, LCNZ represents the sector on the formulation of regulation, compliance and environmental issues, including the standards and light-pollution considerations that increasingly shape outdoor lighting in New Zealand. As a member of the Global Lighting Association, it connects the local industry to international best practice and innovation.

By joining LCNZ, Flashnet becomes part of the community that shapes how public lighting is regulated, funded and delivered across New Zealand, from national standards to the energy-efficiency and dark-sky priorities guiding councils and road-controlling authorities. Through shared standards, advocacy and best practice, this membership will allow us to contribute to the advancement of smart, energy-efficient and responsible lighting in one of the world's most sustainability-focused markets.

New Zealand's transition to LED and centrally managed street lighting is well underway, backed by national programmes and a strong emphasis on road safety and energy performance. Our inteliLIGHT® smart street lighting solution is built for this exact context:

  • open, TALQ-certified and interoperable, so councils can integrate equipment from multiple vendors and avoid lock-in;
  • precise in its lamp-level control and dimming, cutting energy use by up to 40%;
  • ready to integrate with central management systems for real-time monitoring and faster fault resolution.

"By collaborating with LCNZ's members, regulators and industry peers, we aim to support New Zealand's transition toward more sustainable, connected and data-driven infrastructure, starting with the streetlight, one of the most visible and practical assets a community manages"  – Alexandru Buzatu, CCO at Flashnet.
